Eclipse Horizontal Scrollbars Artifact none

Description BeginEnd CLA 2013-12-04 03:04:31 EST
Eclipse 4.4M3 @ Ubuntu 12.10 + GNOME Classic

When you scroll text editor (tested on Java Editor on fresh Eclipse no plugins installed, and on C/C++ editor on Eclipse with CDT) there are artifacts while draging horizontal scroll bar.
Bug is not always reproducible. When it works it works and then it make artefacts for a while and then works again.
Mostly reproducible on program starting.

Also, when a panel is minimized and showed temporarily (I dont know how it is called) and dragging vertical or horizontal scrollbar, artifacts from this temporarily showed panel always apear on text editor.
This is always reproductible.

I can't make screenshot becouse when I do so Eclipse window is refreshed and everything looks ok so I've made a movie presenting this behaviour. Watch whole movie to see all bahaviour described above.

Is the problem specific to GNOME desktop or do you see it with the default Unity desktop too?
Can you test whether the problem is seen when Eclipse uses GTK 2 instead of GTK 3? (export SWT_GTK3=0 before launching Eclipse)

In Unity both problems exists.

With GTK 2 both issues are gone.

Intesting thing:
By default I am using "Gnome classic (No effects)" session but when I used "Gnome classic" with desktop effects on I can't see first problem. I have run eclipse about 10 times and no luck of viewing first problem.

Eclipse Horizontal Scrollbars Artifact
Comment 6 Saren Tasciyan CLA 2016-05-26 06:28:44 EDT
One clarification, those artifacts appear while scrolling vertically but they come from horizontal scrollbars.
Comment 7 Alexander Kurtakov CLA 2016-12-21 18:28:20 EST
Is this bug reproducible with 4.6?
Comment 8 Andrey Loskutov CLA 2016-12-22 03:43:32 EST
Not sure if this is same, but I observe some *vertical* scroll artifacts inside the editor area on RHEL 7 (gtk 3.14) and 4.6.2. I can't reproduce it and it is definitely less then before with 4.5, but the artifacts are there.

Is this still an issue for someone with 4.8 ?

No one has responded in awhile so I'm going to close this bug. If the issue reoccurs on 4.8 with GTK3.22, please open a new issue.
