Description

Hmmm... P2 remediation tries to find a way to help the user to install things, even if they are not installable (f.e. by uninstalling/upgrading other software). There is plenty of alternatives to check, hence the time required. But you're right that discovering that the software is already installed should end remediation process immediatelly after first failure - because it's a very specific case where we know from the beginning that there is no way of proceeding. Could you please attach the most recent version of the profile file as well as provide a download link for your download? http://www.eclipse.org/modeling/download.php?file=/modeling/mdt/uml2/downloads/drops/4.2.0/S201311110727/mdt-uml2-Update-4.2.0M3.zip I've no idea what a profile file is in your context. I presume you are not referring to a UML profile. [I did one update from staging that picked up about 4 projects, reported that it couldn't solve it, computed the 15 part solution more quickly than usual, and reported a solution that was indistinguishable from a clean update.] And worse: if there are other updates available, the slow solution offers to update many other products without making any change to the redundant installed product. The problem is only diagnosable after rejwecting the offered solution and reverting to 'build my own solution'. This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant. -- The automated Eclipse Genie. |
