Bug 419139

Summary: Step into Selection doesn't stop for multi-line statement in JRE code
Product: [Eclipse Project] JDT Reporter: Markus Keller <markus.kell.r>
Component: DebugAssignee: JDT-Debug-Inbox <jdt-debug-inbox>
Status: CLOSED WONTFIX QA Contact:
Severity: normal
Priority: P3
Version: 4.3
Target Milestone: ---
Hardware: PC
OS: Windows 7
Whiteboard: stalebug

Description Markus Keller CLA 2013-10-10 09:25:16 EDT
Source of the method in java.lang.Runtime of JDK 1.7.0_40:

    public Process exec(String[] cmdarray, String[] envp, File dir)
        throws IOException {
        return new ProcessBuilder(cmdarray)
            .environment(envp)
            .directory(dir)
            .start();
    }

When I try to use "Step into Selection" on "start()", the debugger doesn't stop there, but resumes execution.

Problem could be that the classfile only contains a single linenumber attribute for line 617 (where the return statement starts), which appears in front of the constructor and method invocation bytecodes.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. As such, we're closing this bug.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it and reopen this bug. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
