Source of the method in java.lang.Runtime of JDK 1.7.0_40: public Process exec(String[] cmdarray, String[] envp, File dir) throws IOException { return new ProcessBuilder(cmdarray) .environment(envp) .directory(dir) .start(); } When I try to use "Step into Selection" on "start()", the debugger doesn't stop there, but resumes execution. Problem could be that the classfile only contains a single linenumber attribute for line 617 (where the return statement starts), which appears in front of the constructor and method invocation bytecodes.
