We are using user preferences increasingly.
Some of them are manageable from the setting page but some of them are not.
For example, a user installed plugin can be deleted from the setting page. But the recent search term that are stored in the user's preference can not be deleted by a user.
We can add a UI to allow user to delete it but I am wondering if we should do it generically versus doing them individually.
We can think about allowing user to be able to edit a user pref category if the category is "editable".

I think it is a better idea to allow user to delete the recent search terms at the first place. We will have a delete button on the right of each search term from the recent search drop down. Also the delete key will delete the highlighted search term.
