Bug 407951

Summary: Navigation view Linked with Editor vertically centers the selected file if it's already open

Description Jordan Green CLA 2013-05-13 18:28:44 EDT
Repro steps:

Navigation view with "Link with Editor" selected.
Open two files under the same package.
Click each in the navigation view. Note that the navigation view vertically centers on the file you click.

The Package view does NOT exhibit this behavior.

This is a pain when I don't remember that I already have a file open and I go to double click it in the Navigation view (and it likely isn't centered in the view) and it moves before the second click.

Do you mean the Project Explorer? Or really, the Navigator view?

We don't support the Navigator view any more, it's been replaced by the Project Explorer.

I really meant the Navigator view. That's too bad it's not being supported. I never liked the other style (showing the full package path). Guess I'll just have to get used to it.

You can try the Project Explorer as well, it's the Platform replacement for the Navigator.

If you are in the package explorer, you can turn off that full-package display in the view menu (dropdown triangle in the view toolbar) under Package Presentation.

Sweet. Thanks. So I guess this is a Close Won't Fix? Do I do that or someone on the eclipse team?

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. As such, we're closing this bug.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it and reopen this bug. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
