This probably needs no additional rewrite work. But needs to be investigated and new tests can be added.

As I had figured, there was no code change required for the AST rewrite part. I have added a new test and the changes have been released via the following commit, including an accidental/unintentional whitespace change to ASTRewritingTypeDeclTest:
