https://dev.eclipse.org/committers/bugs/bugz_manager.php

did not let me add a new component version in bugzilla.
I kept getting

"It looks like you don't have access to edit any bugzilla components, or you have not logged into the portal with your comitter credentials.
Either talk to the PL or PMC of your project(s), or try logging in with your committer id and password."

although I was obviously logged in:
the "Back To Portal" link on that page took me right back to the portal without the need to log in.

It turned out there is a difference if I log in with my email adress or with my committer id.
This was confusing to me. I would expect both logins to be equivalent in terms of permissions.

This is by design.

Before the adoption of our single sign on mechanism it was possible for a committer to have a bugzilla account login that didn't match their committer record(as bugzillas accounts were maintained independently), so the only way to provide elevated permissions was to require the usage of the committerid for login.

Since the portal has entered it's end of life(it's being replaced by the PMI) we're only providing critical fixes.
