This is with M5: Object nullable = .. if (nullable instanceof CharSequence || nullable instanceof Appendable) { doesNotAcceptNull(nullable); // error here } Works fine with plain instanceof checks, e.g. if (nullable instanceof CharSequence) { doesNotAcceptNull(nullable); // error here }
