Summary: Project renaming and tree refreshing problem (1GFQQ5V)
Product: [Eclipse Project] Platform Reporter: Lynne Kues <lynne_kues>
Component: UIAssignee: Kevin Haaland <Kevin_Haaland>
Status: RESOLVED DUPLICATE QA Contact:
Severity: critical
Priority: P4

Hardware: All
OS: All
Whiteboard:

Description Lynne Kues CLA 2001-10-10 23:04:31 EDT
1. In a Java Perspective, create a new java project "ZZ Test".
2. Expand the project.
3. Expand and collapse the JRE_LIB.
4. Rename the Project "ZZ Test One". Notice that the project
	automatically collapses.
5. Expand the Project again.
6. Rename the Project "ZZ Test 1". Notice that the project does not
	automatically collapse.

At this point the tree is out of sync. Try to expand the JRE_LIB item. It's plus sign disappears.
If you collapse and expand the project, everything is okay.

scenario below works in the latest and the tree is in sync
Comment 4 Lynne Kues CLA 2001-11-12 11:00:29 EST
I reran the scenario in the PR and the tree is no longer out of sync. However,
the collapse behavior is still inconsistent when you rename. Why does the tree
get collapsed on the first rename operation, but not on the second rename
operation? This is inconsistent if not a bug. Also, it would be most user
friendly to always leave the tree in its expanded state when a rename operation
occurs. Tested all of this in 20011107.
Comment 5 Erich Gamma CLA 2001-11-12 11:49:12 EST
Agreed the collapse behaviour is not consistent. This is a JFace problem 3840.
Moving to Platform UI.
