Currently even if the view is opened, there is no checkmark in
the window of Window -> Show View. It would be nice if the checkmark
appeared on Window -> Show View to indicate which Views are currently
opened.

It sounds good to me. But it is not something the ui team has time to address
for 3.0 release. Maybe someone from the community would be interested in
looking into this problem and proposing a solution. If so, please send an e-
mail to the ui mailing list and annotate this bug report.

Using check mark to indicate which views are already opened in the perspective
will cause some confusion. The behavior of Window > Show View > VIEWNAME is to
show and give focus to the VIEWNAME even if its part of the perspective
already. If we used a check mark, the user would expect that unchecking a view
would hide/remove it from the perspective, which is not what it would do. So
some other indicator would be needed instead of a check mark.

Also, we should apply the same solution to the Window > Open Perspective sub-
menu also. And to the Show View > Other... and Open Perspective > Other dialogs.
