Bug 393404

Summary: CVS Authentication for every file

Description Prem Malav CLA 2012-11-02 07:27:56 EDT
When synchronizing project with CVS, I find that Eclipse is authenticating with server for each file. The messages in the progress window repeat in the following order for every file:
1. Authentication using pserver
2. Receiving server response
3. Receiving file: <FileName>

Shouldn't it authenticate only once per synchronization?

Seems to occurs only in Juno. I opened the same workspace with same CVS repository in Indigo, and worked fine.
Comment 2 Mika Rastas CLA 2014-02-13 08:57:30 EST
This but is still occurring in Kepler.

It takes a mighty while to syncronize the repository. I know there are workarounds but if I would like to use synchronise view to look at diffs this is a show stopper.
Comment 3 Curtis Taylor CLA 2014-12-05 14:20:29 EST
This is happening for me using STS 3.6.3.RELEASE built against Luna 4.4.1.

Using the CLI is a workaround but syncing +30 odd projects is almost as much of a time sink as this bug.
Comment 4 Eclipse Genie CLA 2020-06-25 19:51:42 EDT
This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. As such, we're closing this bug.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it and reopen this bug. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
