The first 2 items in the Getting Started section of http://eclipse.org/orion/ are as follows:

1) Sign-Up for OrionHub
OrionHub is our hosted Orion solution created from the components developed in the open. See what Orion is all about.
Sign-Up Today

2) Download and Install Orion on your localhost
Get Orion installed and running on your own machine.
Download Now

It's not really clear that this is intended to be 1 OR 2. It could be interpreted as 1 AND 2 - i.e. sign up and then download.

It is also not clear why a newbie would choose one over the other.

It might help to have something like:
"Why choose OrionHub?"
- access, develop, and test your code from anywhere, using any device or machine
- share the code with others

"Why choose localhost?"
- develop and test your code on your own local machine
- work offline if desired

etc.

Sure enough the old site I remember had an "or" between those two. But I think I can fix it with some wordsmithing.

The "Getting Orion" section of http://wiki.eclipse.org/Orion/Getting_Started_with_Orion
may have some useful words - it does say "You have two choices to get started with Orion." However, it's still not clear what the pros/cons of each choice might be.

Another reason why someone might choose to install locally is that they might like that their code is stored in files in the local filesystem.
