AFAIK we recommend new users to use the MPC but it is not included in the standard Java package. 

Wouldn't it be better to include it into the Java packaging?

I am not sure which package that was. The downloaded file is called "eclipse-SDK-4.2-macosx-cocoa-x86_64.tar"

Semms to be the "Classic" version (to check your edition take a look at Help->About Eclipse). See bug 375292 for further details.

MPC is integrated in the Java Edition.
