- observed on IE9

- type anything in the log in page's user name field
- press Tab to move focus to the password field
- the caret appears to be gone
- press any key and the caret will reveal itself in the password field, so it did Tab-traverse correctly, it just became invisible

This works in IE10, which is the minimum-supported IE release.  Closing as WORKSFORME.
