Description Tadej Janež CLA 2012-09-17 05:52:45 EDT
I'm using Fedora 17 with Gnome 3.4 and Eclipse 4.2.

The new "Detached editor" functionality featured in the "New & Noteworthy" pages for Eclipse 4.2 behaves poorly under Gnome 3.

Detaching an editor indeed creates a new window, but it is not detected by Gnome shell and consequently it can not be managed like other "proper" windows.

This brings a lot of issues, for example:
1. Alt+tab does not show the detached window.
2. Draging the detached window to the side of the screen to tile two windows side-by-side does not work.

Cinnamon desktop has this issue too.

The same thing is happening for splash screen. In worst case scenario if start is taking long time I have to minimize all windows to find starting eclipse.

Is this still an issue nowadays? I haven't seen this behaviour for some years.

No response in two years, closing the ticket now. Please reopen if the issue occurs on GTK3.22 with 4.8.
