Description Denis Roy CLA 2012-06-25 09:55:58 EDT
If you land on an old release train page (from a search or something), you have zero indication that the page is old and that one should visit the current train pages.

http://www.eclipse.org/callisto/c-dev.php

Here's a sample email I got in the webmaster inbox:

1. The “CDT Tutorials” link on http://www.eclipse.org/callisto/c-dev.php is broken (404 error)

2. There is no indication what this page is about! What the heck is Callisto?

I arrived at this page by following a link from a search for “eclipse CDT help” – this is probably why I don’t understand the page.

I think we need to maintain the root simultaneous release pages in perpetuity. I would like, however, to change the content to reflect the historical nature of the very old releases. I'm not sure how we want to define "very old", but for today, I think that Helios and previous releases fall into this category. With LTS we may opt to redefine "very old".

Ancillary pages--like the c-dev page--on very old releases, IMHO, should be archived. We should then set up redirects from these ancillary pages to the root page.

http://www.eclipse.org/indigo/
If you then click on Downloads, you end up on Juno

Chris can you change the download link to point to the Indigo SR2 packages.

Done! The download link on the indigo splash page is now linking to : http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/packages/release/indigo/sr2

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
