If you have a repository, the initial value for the Git repository is honored and pre-filled:

http://orionhub.org/git/git-repository.html#,cloneGitRepository=somevalue

But if you don't, it isn't.

what build are you running?  This sounds like bug 382047 comment 7 which is fixed in our RC2 build.
