It seems this test suite always hangs, on ALL platforms, for 4.2 only. For 3.8 they seem to complete "fine" on all platform. 

I've tried looking at the console logs, such as at 

http://download.eclipse.org/eclipse/downloads/drops4/I20120522-1900/logs.php#console 

but nothing seems obvious or consistent? (to my untrained eye) 

I'm just thinking this suite's failures might indicate a "real" problem and probably deserves some attention. If nothing else, if its one or two specific tests causing the hang, perhaps they should be "removed" until they can be fixed so as to not interfere with the other tests?

Running locally, tests take a while and may appear to be hung.

A good portion of those tests deal with WorkbenchAdvisor and fails.

David, we can't address these tests in the short term, we need you to remove them from the main automated test test.xml in 4.2.  I think that comes from eclipse.platform.releng.eclipsebuilder/eclipse/buildConfigs/sdk.tests/testScripts/test.xml

I'm also going to update our test.xml in o.e.ui.tests to call the API test suite.

Ok, I've opened bug 380553 to put in the "releng workaround" for RC3, and we'll leave this bug open for "real fix" (I'm assuming).

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. As such, we're closing this bug.
