It seems the option from bug 149994 never made it into the help pages?

Maybe this is just a result of not updating a plugin in the help center? See the notice: "Version 3.6 - Last revised August 5, 2009".

Yet, I still see that notice in recent 4.2 builds.

The initial bug is targeted for Juno, so we might still have a chance :)
