When I first connect to the bug repository and select Save Password, the connection always fails.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. My setup is Linux Mint 9 (compatible with Ubuntu Lucid Lynx), running latest Eclipse for Testers, Mylyn connecting to jira.
2. Open Eclipse, select the Planning perspective.
3. Hit Synchronize Changed. Enter my bug repository (jira) credentials, and select Save Password.
4. The authentication _always_ fails.
5. If I do NOT select to save the password, the authentication always works.

There is also bug 347106 which sounds similar to what you are experiencing.
