Need some sort of a pre-move/delete resource notification. The reason is that we
have some files locked (they typically are jars and are running in a application
that our plugin has programatically launched). When we receive such
notification, we can close out the application so that the files are no longer
locked and can be deleted. Copying the files before launching is not feasible.

In the current way, if the user tries to delete such files, all they get is a
message that they couldn't delete it for some reason. They don't know why, they
don't know that our plugin has locked the file.

This is just a request to consider this for 3.0.

Thanks.

I looked at 13530 and yes this defect is a duplicate of it, BUT 13530 has been
marked as a duplicate of 36943. I think that is a problem. 36943 does not talk
at all about a PRE_Delete hook. It just talks about refactoring API needed. I
need the PRE_Delete hook (in fact a lot of people do, this comes in the forums
many times) and it has nothing to do with refactoring. I'm afraid the
requirement for a pre-delete hook would get lost if someone simply looked at
36943. Thanks.

John has added comments re: delete in the discussions on the mailing lists
about the new refactoring RFC.
