If you open a file and (on Mac) Command-J then you can start an incremental find.

If you first do Command-F to find and the slide out comes up you can no longer use incremental find.

Not sure this is specific to Mac.

Not quite sure what the right behaviour is.  The two modes seem to conflict.

This was fixed in this commit:

Please try the latest. You should be able to start incremental find with the slide out for Cmd+F visible now.
