Yesterday was my first "real use" of search/replace preview workflow.
When I pushed the Preview button, the auto collapse of the favorites pane was very disrupting. It made me feel like "much more" was happening than I intended to.

Further, when I hit the browser back button, it returned to the search results page with the favorites pane still collapsed. This led me to believe that browser history was broken, I didn't realize it returned me to the right page because it looked so different.

I think we should leave the favorites pane alone and let the user decide if they need more room. (In general we shouldn't manipulate the splitter programmatically, I was happy when we finally got rid of that behavior on the git log page.)

I think there might be bugs with the splitter cookies, I'll open a separate bug on that. (Collapse and expand doesn't remember previous position).
