Description
Benjamin Cabé
ping. This would prove really useful (if technically possible, of course) to ensure that every question on a forum correctly gets answered to. Thanks! This is an interesting proposition. I'd like to see more (many more) project leads and committers voice their request for this before turning it into an actionable item. I think this would be useful. I know when I'm "googling" for a problem/solution, seeing a "SOLVED" in the results helps lead me to the most constructive possibilities. Probably should well document somewhere "what it means" and when a moderator should add it. If feasible, given our forum software, if there was a way for the original "submitter" to click a checkbox or something that'd be nice too (and ease the load on project leads/committers). I know many of our forums are more "community moderated" rather than "committer modertated". But, I've no idea what any of these solutions would take to implement, so maybe simple edit for now. And otherwise keep in mind more deluxe solutions more as a criteria for "future generations" of forum software. I know a similar, handy mechanism many of the "forums" I use (e.g. for linux questions, or http://stackoverflow.com/ have ways the community can "vote" on an answer (or question, for that matter). But every little improvement helps. +1 I also think the idea is good. Having the possibility to manually mark the posts is a good start. One small thing to consider is that the title change on the forums won't percolate back into the NNTP newsgroup. I'm not sure if that is a big deal or not. That's a good point Denis. I guess the title change should usually not go beyond appending [SOLVED] though, so we should not have cases where a project lead totally changes the title of a post that often. BTW, out of curiosity, do you have stats that you can share regarding the use of NNTP nowadays? > BTW, out of curiosity, do you have stats that you can share regarding the

I don't have any stats offhand, but I know each time I threaten to deprecate the NNTP servers our commiters object in high numbers.
I don't think the presence of NNTP is a showstopper to enabling this, however.
So I'm willing to try this manually for now, just to see what happens. I've granted Sopot Moderator rights on the Eclipse 4 forum. Benjamin, on which forums would you like to be moderator? (In reply to comment #8) > So I'm willing to try this manually for now, just to see what happens. Very cool, thanks. > Benjamin, on which forums would you like to be moderator? Just the Koneki forum for now. http://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php/f/221/ Thank you! Done. You're a moderator on Koneki. You may need to log out/log in to the forum for it to take effect. Tell all your friends! May I ask to become moderator on the SmartHome forum? Would be great - thanks :-) (In reply to Kai Kreuzer from comment #11) > May I ask to become moderator on the SmartHome forum? Would be great - > thanks :-) Done. Is it possible to give me and Ulyana Skorokhodova moderator permissions for RCP Testing Tool forum? (In reply to Ivan Inozemtsev from comment #13) > Is it possible to give me and Ulyana Skorokhodova moderator permissions for > RCP Testing Tool forum? Done. -M. Can I ( https://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php/u/127041/ ) become moderator on the Eclipse Scout forum (https://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php/f/174/ )? Thank you in advance. (In reply to Jeremie Bresson from comment #15) > Can I ( https://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php/u/127041/ ) become > moderator on the Eclipse Scout forum > (https://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php/f/174/ )? Thank you in advance. Done. Could I become moderator on https://www.eclipse.org/forums/eclipse.ldt instead of benjamin cabe which is not involved in the project anymore. Thx (In reply to Simon Bernard from comment #17) > Could I become moderator on https://www.eclipse.org/forums/eclipse.ldt > instead of benjamin cabe which is not involved in the project anymore. > Thx ping. (In reply to Simon Bernard from comment #18) Sorry about the delay, you can now moderate the LDT forum. -M. (In reply to Eclipse Webmaster from comment #19) It seems there are no moderator anymore for Lua Development Tools forums. https://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php/i/1/ (Maybe the modification is not effective immediately, in this case ignore my comment.) I'm not sure why you aren't appearing as the moderator, but the forums correctly report your account when I search for users with moderator permissions. -M. (In reply to Eclipse Webmaster from comment #21) > I'm not sure why you aren't appearing as the moderator, but the forums > correctly report your account when I search for users with moderator > permissions. Ok,but I can see any clue in the forum UI which show me that I have the moderator permissions. I try to logout/login but I can see any difference. I suppose I should be able to rename or pin topics ? (In reply to Eclipse Webmaster from comment #21) > I'm not sure why you aren't appearing as the moderator, but the forums > correctly report your account when I search for users with moderator > permissions. That's because the forum allows you to select deleted forums for moderation. LDT underwent a move a few months ago, and there is a deleted LDT forum. Totally ridiculous. I've set Simon as the moderator of the correct LDT forum. could you please add me [1] as a moderator to the eclipse scout forum [2]? thanks matthias ps. from [1] it seems that there is only one message from me, which is not true. it seems that updating my email address (we did change our domain name) did reset the counters of the forum... [1] https://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php/u/206358/ [2] https://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php?t=thread&frm_id=174 (In reply to Matthias Zimmermann from comment #24) > could you please add me [1] as a moderator to the eclipse scout forum [2]? > > thanks > matthias > > ps. from [1] it seems that there is only one message from me, which is not > true. it seems that updating my email address (we did change our domain > name) did reset the counters of the forum... > > [1] https://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php/u/206358/ > [2] https://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php?t=thread&frm_id=174 Matthias is now a moderator on the Scout forum. Mattias, can you open a new bug for the issue of having two different accounts? For reference, his original account is this one: https://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php/u/73932/ tx and done [1] https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=470288 please remove me [1] as a moderator of the eclipse scout forum [2]. as a replacement please add stephan [3] and patrick [4] as a replacement. thanks in advance matthias [1] https://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php/u/206358/ [2] https://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php?t=thread&frm_id=174 [3] https://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php/u/86891/ [4] https://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php/u/124279/ Could you please add me as moderator to the Epsilon forum [1]? We won't be investing any resources into this aspect of our infra, as it is either deprecated, or it will be soon. We encourage projects to migrate to GitHub or Eclipse GitLab (https://gitlab.eclipse.org).
