Now that the containerinstances are lazy initialized it's possible that a nested mapping of a choice mapping will add to it's list but that object will not get in to the actual choice collection mapping's list.

Fixed in 2.3.3 and trunk.   Modified TreeObjectBuilder and UnmarshalRecord
