Description Sergey Boyko CLA 2012-01-20 07:38:10 EST
Support for showing a view's description in ShowViewDialog was introduced in 3.4M1 (https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=128529) and was removed in 3.6M2 (https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=224546).

However I have a request to add support for JAWS reading that tooltip for Eclipse 3.5 release.

Reproducible: Always in Eclipse 3.5

Steps to Reproduce:
0. Run JAWS 12
1. Open Eclipse 3.5
2. Choose menu 'Window/Show View/Other...' and select any item in the treeviewoperation. Click "Next >" button.
3. Press 'F2'. Tooltip is displayed.

Actual:
JAWS does not read the text in tooltip

Expected:
JAWS should read the text in tooltip

There is a workaround that JAWS users would likely discover. After typing F2 to bring up the description, type JAWSKey+DownArrow (i.e. on a desktop machine, this would be INS+DownArrow). This tells JAWS to "Say All" and it will read the description.

We will not be making any changes to Eclipse 3.5 to get JAWS to read this automatically when tooltip verbosity is configured.
