Description Marcel Bruch CLA 2012-01-20 02:29:02 EST
I'd like to add Code Recommenders to Juno Aggregation build but have no permission to commit.

"
The server reported an error while performing the "cvs commit" command.
org.eclipse.juno.build: cvs [commit aborted]: could not open lock file `/cvsroot/callisto/org.eclipse.juno.build/,simrel.b3aggr,': Permission denied
"

Could the person in charge grant write permission for Johannes Lerch (login:jlerch) and me (login: mbruch)?
Comment 1 David Williams CLA 2012-01-20 09:43:18 EST
jlerch already is a member, I assume from some previous note or bug report.

I don't know his email so can you add it to this bug's cc list, so every one knows that every knows?

I'll approve, on behalf of Planning Council so work can go on in parallel, but, you say "add Code Recommenders" ... does that mean it was not in M4? If that is the case, then Code Recommenders must still go through the exception process, as described in

http://wiki.eclipse.org/SimRel/Simultaneous_Release_Requirements#Planning_Council_Exception_Process

Plus, be sure your read

http://wiki.eclipse.org/Juno/Contributing_to_Juno_Build

and other documents at

http://wiki.eclipse.org/Juno/

if you haven't already.

Ok, I've added Marcel to the callisto-dev group.

I'am "jlerch" and Marcel is keeping me up to date.

Exception for being not in the aggregation build by M4 was already requested:
http://dev.eclipse.org/mhonarc/lists/technology-pmc/msg03783.html

If i got the process right it's the technology pmc contacting the planning council. The state i know is that Chris and Gunnar agreed with the exception.

Thanks Johannes. And, yes, that's the process ... and eventually, when he's ready, Chris would send email to planning council list.

For the records: I updated simrel.b3aggr.
We'll ask Chris to send the email to planning council list.

One question:

We used the "General Purpose Tools" category for Recommenders's features. This category, however, feels not like a good fit since our tools a tightly coupled to JDT.

I think a Category such as "Java Tools" or "Recommenders" would best describe what we offer. What's the right medium to discuss this issue?

The right medium is to open a cross-project bug to propose a new category and get some public comments/discusssion. (Ultimately, it is the Planning Council that makes final decision on the categories).

But ... come on ... "Recommenders"? That sounds like you just want to highlight your one project :) Is there really a whole family of "recommenders"? Another option is to put it in the same category where JDT is ... "Language Tools" or something I think its called?

Marking as fixed, as I think the work requested is done.

Thanks all.
