Description Jonathan Watt CLA 2012-01-18 11:31:55 EST
In "C/C++ > Indexer" I've disabled "Automatically update the index". Unfortunately, when I create a new project for existing code and select the source directory, Eclipse refreshes the workspace. That's not a problem in and of itself, but I really, really don't want the indexing to start after it's finished that because the indexer generally takes 20 minutes and causes Eclipse to hang for minutes at a time, and the project hasn't yet been configured so that the indexer can produce useful results in any case.

As well as being annoying for me, this issue unfortunately complicates the wiki document I'm writing on setting up Eclipse for use with the Mozilla source. It's necessary to add instructions on finding and opening the Progress tab, cancelling the Refresh step, and to add text to explain that this is because the indexer will start even though the wiki page previously instructed them to turn off "Automatically update the index".

Thanks, the initial rebuild of the index will no longer be done, when automatic update is deselected.
