Note that is problem is pervasive for all X* things.  Look in the File->New->Other... at all the places you provide wizards for files, projects, and tutorials and you'll see you're always missing the little + while all the other projects have them.

Where exactly can I find all the icons for which you'd like help adding the little + indicator?  Will you need one with the indicator and still use the old one without the indicator for other purposes?

Is this little + not a kind of overlay decorator. Like e.g. repository and marker indicator in project explorer?

No, you need specialized icons for the registered wizards because I think the plugin.xml registration for the wizard can only reference an actual icon, not one that's composed...

Nevertheless, my solution is better than the actual one :)

I guess all the icons I see in this wizard that come from the Xtext project need attention.  Perhaps some of the wizards in "Other" should be in a better category?

Yes, for example CDO :)
I will take a look at Xtend wizards categories. In case of mwe2 it's a missing mwe category that comes from mwe ui, which is not installed in your IDE.
