The feature for extensible entities adds functionality that allows the EntityManagerFactory metadata to be refreshed as described here:
http://wiki.eclipse.org/EclipseLink/UserGuide/JPA/Advanced_JPA_Development/Extensible_Entities

What is missing is that other sessions and the EMFs tied to them should also be made aware that they should refresh their metadata via RCM.  This would be useful if those remote instances are all using a single metadata repository, so that all can be notified of changes.
