Description Thomas Watson CLA 2012-01-11 10:29:33 EST
Jesse mentioned to me that the jetty project is going to release their final RC for 8.1 soon. We need to coordinate what we contribute for M5 for the jetty bundles. Jesse please point us to the repository we should use to pick up the latest RC for jetty 8.

We are shooting for 8.1.0 final release next week and intend on having this be what goes into juno.

I'll ping this issue when it goes final and we have a p2 repo with the goods

Anything available yet?

Is this the repo we should use:

http://download.eclipse.org/jetty/updates/jetty-bundles-8.x/8.1.0.RC4

Yes that should work

the final release is probably another week to two out and we'll probably have another M5 release end of this week, start of next week but the url there should work from here on out for M4 release

To be clear this is for the Juno M5 milestone. Is the Jetty 8.1.0 RC4 version what you are contributing to Juno M5?
Comment 6 Jesse McConnell CLA 2012-01-18 11:29:42 EST
err yes, I believe that is the plan

and I misspoke, its RC4 and a new RC5 coming soonish

the only change in RC5 that might effect things would be the removal of explicit javax.activation dependencies in the 8 codebase because its present in jdk 1.6 and above which is jetty8

https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=368593 for details on that

When you have your final 8.1.0 release are you going to keep the RCx qualifiers or remove them?
Comment 8 Jesse McConnell CLA 2012-01-18 11:43:27 EST
they will be kept, perhaps moved to archives.eclipse.org but they will be kept

Thanks Jesse, but I still would like to understand what version of Jetty 8.1.0 you plan to contribute to Juno M5. Is that the jetty 8.1.0 RC4 build? We don't have a lot of runway to wait, unfortunately. I think our only option is to use your jetty 8.1.0 M4 content since we are starting our Juno M5 builds this Friday.

Thanks, but my question was in the repo that contains your final 8.1.0 build, will it contain versions with RCx qualifiers or will you remove the qualifiers?
Comment 11 Jesse McConnell CLA 2012-01-18 11:59:57 EST
8.1.0.v2012<whatever> will be a release of the code on the jetty-8 tag in git when we are comfortable with the code on that branch

it will not be renaming jars or anything like that, it will simply be taking our released maven artifacts and rejiggering them into a p2 repository

cheers,
jesse
