I know the "blame" assignment isn't always perfect, but a recent case seemed to be a simple case, that assigned it wrong (or, sent to wrong group) so thought I'd document it. See

https://hudson.eclipse.org/hudson/view/Repository%20Aggregation/job/juno.runAggregator/192/console

(but, will attach also, since the log will eventually disappear).

In this case, DLTK group made a change that caused PDT to no longer find its DLTK dependency. In other words, PDT is the contribution that had the problem.

[exec] Missing requirement: PHP Development Tools (PDT) Runtime Feature 3.0.0.v20110516-1100-7V--F8NcJTTK4UE9TTJJ (org.eclipse.php.feature.group 3.0.0.v20110516-1100-7V--F8NcJTTK4UE9TTJJ) requires 'org.eclipse.dltk.core.feature.group [3.0.0,4.0.0)' but it could not be found
     [exec]
[exec] InstallableUnit(org.eclipse.dltk.core.feature.group [3.0.0,4.0.0)) is required by:
     [exec] ValidationSet(main)
     [exec] Contribution(PDT)
     [exec] MappedRepository(file:///home/data/httpd/download.eclipse.org/tools/pdt/updates/3.0/milestones)
     [exec] Feature(org.eclipse.php.sdk.feature.group 3.0.0.v20110516-1100-77--84_23JBVgSVXO7XGJz0VLa9O)
     [exec] InstallableUnit(org.eclipse.php.feature.group 3.0.0.v20110516-1100-7V--F8NcJTTK4UE9TTJJ)

I thought in cases like this, the PDT contribution would have been "blamed" and they get the error message ... but, the DLTK group was the one that was sent the error email message.

Anything obviously wrong? Seems it should have at least been sent to both groups? Or, am I looking at it wrong?
Comment 2 Thomas Hallgren CLA 2012-01-11 10:38:27 EST
I agree, this doesn't seem right. The culprit is definitely the PDT contribution in this case.

[Bookkeeping change only. Moving bugs to the new "home" of aggregator, CBI.]
Comment 4 Frederic Gurr CLA 2023-09-01 10:02:41 EDT
If this issue is still relevant, please move it to https://github.com/eclipse-cbi/p2repo-aggregator/issues.
