I have a very strange problem with Eclipse. Appreciate, if you could help us in understanding or resolving the issue.

Whenever I try to Switch Workspace using File-->Workspace, Eclipse is crashing. I did an initial investigation and it seems found the problem lies with -vm option.

Actually I start eclipse using a script in which I launch eclipse with -vm option. This option of -vm is also mentioned in eclipse.ini file.

I gave a try by removing -vm option from command line as well from eclipse.ini and switch workspace starts working. But as per our requirement we need -vm option always. Currently we are using Eclipse 3.6.1 and running an application on Solaris 10 (sparc).

One more important think I would like to mention that this specific crash happens whenever a message like: No space left on device is shown on my console. Even though I have sufficient space in my home directory this message appears. Incase message doesnt appears, Switch Worskspace works fine.

Could you please help us understand this issue. Appreciate your early response.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Launch Eclipse using -vm option. -vm option is mentioned in eclipse.ini as well

2. Once Eclipse get launched I tried to switch workspace. Eclipse gets crashed

3. One more important think I would like to mention that this specific crash happens whenever a message(like: No space left on device) is shown on my console. Even though I have sufficient space in my home directory this message appears. Incase message doesn't appear, Switch Worskspace works fine.

4. Below is the log I got in console:

This does not seem to be related to Platform/Resources. I think -vm option is more related to Equinox/Launcher.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
