Steps to reproduce

1. Set a proxy in the global network connection preferences
2. Configure a Gerrit repository that cannot be reached through the proxy (e.g. at SAP I can only communicate with external servers via the proxy)
3. Result: Pushing 'Validate' in the repository configuration fails (here with 'Login failed') -> expected because we communicate via proxy 
4. In the repository configuration override the global proxy configuration (do not enter a proxy host and port)
5. Result: Pushing 'Validate' in the repository configuration still fails, i.e. the override is not honored

I believe this is indeed a limitation.
