I often have the problems that some of the dialogs opened by Ctrl-F6, Ctrl-T and Ctrl-O, close immediately after being opened, so I can't do anything with the dialogs. 

This behaviour doesn't happen all the time.

There are no errors in the Error Log that seem to be related.

I get following error message in my .xsession-errors when pressing those keys; the error messages occur in both cases, when the dialogs wortk, and when they immediately close again:

(unity-window-decorator:2327): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: invalid uninstantiatable type `(null)' in cast to `GObject'

(unity-window-decorator:2327): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_object_unref: assertion `G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed

I use Ubuntu 11.10, and have had this problem since I installed that distribution on my (new) laptop. Eclipse on my old laptop, with Ubuntu 11.04,
didn't have that problem.

https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=352905 seems to describe a similar problem, but for me, it happens almost every time, not just right after opening a new editor. It also is for a different Eclipse version.



Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Eclipse, and edit some files
2. Press Ctrl-T, Ctrl-O, or Ctrl-F6
3. (Dialog opens)
4. What should happen: Dialog should stay open until I have selected something
5. (Dialog closes again)

The version is listed here as 4.1, but the "Installation Details" dialog on my install tells me Platform is version 3.7.1?

In Eclipse Neon, the problem for Ctrl-O is solved; it is fully functional now. 

For Ctrl+F6, the problem will be solved via Bug 497937. 

Hence, I suggest closing as a duplicate.

Ctrl-O and Ctrl-T are now working as expected. 
Ctrl-F6 shows a dialog that closes when you release keys, as described in the documentation. 

Closing as worksforme.
