Currently, the result of applying a patch is ignored, as the server always returns 201 and <textarea> (sic!) in the response. The only way to find out if applying the patch succeeded is to go to Git Status and see if anything has changed. I'm planning to improve this as soon as I got my head around what's going on in the uploader dialog.

Apparently I'm not the only one having problems with error handling during an import, see bug 335890. I'm marking this one as blocked by that bug.
