if the CDateTime widget is created with CDT.DROP_DOWN and it does not yet display any date you can not set the initial date by just typing figures. You first have to open the calendar combo and choose the initial date there.

modified handleKey method whith the described enhancement

if the handleKey(Event) method is modified as in the attached code fragment it is possible to just start typing figures

Please provide a patch instead of a single method. This will speed things up. It would also be excellent if you could provide a test case. Please use any of the existing tests as an example.

Never mind. I managed to reproduce and create a test case. Thanks for the patch. The changes can be picked up from the repo and the build should be available from the nebula download page.
