Description Soveran CLA 2011-11-16 01:00:21 EST
Build Identifier: EHS3.6 GM bulid

When I type "DB2 Text Search" into the search box in the index, I don't see that i1 in the index results, although there are many topics with that i1.

I'm guessing that Eclipse is not case sensitive, which is why I get the first single result, and yet sees the two terms as different, which is why they aren't presented on the same page. The term on the first page is incorrect (should be DB2 Text Search), so I imagine that the problem I'm seeing will go away after the term is fixed. However, I wonder whether there's a general problem that needs to be addressed.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.When user try to search "DB2 Text Search" in "Index Search" tab
2.User got a "DB2 Text search" in the first page rather than the exactly same phrase "DB2 Text Search", notice the last word "Search" is uppercase
3.So EHS must not be case sensitive in "Index Search" functionality
4.Clearly, have the right and completely matched search result in the first page of "Index Search" tab is important and convenient for user

What do you mean by index search?

If I open the help contents for Eclipse and enter 'pde' into the search box, I get results containing 'PDE' at the top of the results.

Moving to User Assistance.

What I meant is when user try to use "Index" tab, there is a input box to enter keyword to search related topic(In reply to comment #1)

I just tried this using 'rational team concert', and in my tests the index search is not case-sensitive - i.e. any ordering of capital / lowercase letters in 'rational team concert' would correctly find the topic 'Rational Team Concert'.

I am using:

Version: 3.8.0
Build id: I20111101-0800

Yes, that's what I meant, EHS is not case sensitive, but user want the exactly same phrase as the keyword showing first in the search result page, that's why user want it to be case sensitive(In reply to comment #3)

No one is looking at UA bugs. We could accept a patch if you contributed one.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
