In the git status page there is a useful box of 'Recent commits on master'
when you over the commits in this box the cursor does change to hand cursor (what indicates the text under the cursor is link, not mention the text is underlined, what also means link). But clicking on the commit does nothing.

I would expect that clicking on the commit on the status page would show me the commit details (similarly to clicking on a link on the git log page). That said, the sliding page used in the git log page would probably not look good in the git status page... opening a new page would probably be better imo.

It was fixed along with bug 369056. The commit name is a link now and you also get a hover showing commit details.
