Build Identifier: M20110909-1335

1) Fresh install eclipse
2) On terminal / console I start with "./eclipse"
3) Then the workspace selector pops up. 
4) Then I choose my own workspace (*not* the default "<USER>/workspace")

5) crashes with following console output

If I choose the default place of workspace, eclipse starts up normally!
As soon as I start fresh installation with my own workspace, it crashes.
I also can't create a new empty workspace at non-default location.

I tried without any result to switch the jvm (via  update-java-alternatives  java-6-openjdk | java-6-sun )


Btw: My old eclipse gallileo 3.5.2 runs fine!
