There is already a replaceContentProvider extension point.  It would be desirable to provide the same functionality for label providers.

this is fixed in maintanance branch, but needs to be ported to 0.9.x

The extension point has been merged from maintenance into master.  It ID is org.eclipse.emf.ecp.navigator.replaceLabelProvider.
