Yes indeed, since there is no standard way of describing dates in JSON we have to come up with our own solution. I've just started the discussion in our mailing list and after an agreement we will implement it after release 0.9. I am also reducing the severity of this issue to "normal" since there are valid workarounds that can be easily implemented. We changed the implementation to parse JSON/BON strings to date/datetime values if they have the correct format.
