Graphiti team's response to this seems appropriate and the same logic would apply to Sapphire. It would be very difficult to define a universal rule that works for all diagrams. If this becomes an issue when implementing a particular diagram editor, we can take a look at those concrete requirements and see if we can come up with some sort of a rule set that can be configured in sdef. Absent concrete need, we should not do anything in the framework.
