Did you try whether some of the actions or views (Window > Show View) are there? > how to start with -debug. i have no idea ,coz am bit new to linux I assume you start eclipse via 'eclipse' command. Simply append " -debug" when you start it. Try "-debug -consolelog" and then open the 'Error Log' view in your workbench.
