At least in the case of pressing backspace, only the individual line is repainted with proper highlighting even if the rest of the current view might be invalid.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Go to http://www.eclipse.org/orion/
2. After the / on the first line, press space (note that the following lines are no longer highlighted as comments)
3. Press backspace (only the first line is properly marked as a comment line)

This bug as been there forever (unfortunately).
We never fixed this in the past because we never thought that our styler would last that long... 

Silenio, I think we need to fix this.

note: folding hides this bug (if you have it enabled).
but you still can see this problem, even with folding,  changing a /** .. */ to a /*  .. */
