Description Stephane Begaudeau CLA 2011-09-14 06:03:05 EDT
Ok, I'll start by saying that this is the most curious bug I have ever witness on the platform.

I have two editors opened a Java editor and a text editor. I was editing some text in the Java editors and later in the text editor everything was working perfectly but I don't know why after some time, if I edited my file in the text editor, all the "event" (shorcut like Ctrl+S or action like clicking the save button in the toolbar) where directed to the Java editor even if I was working on the text editor. I could copy the content of the text editor with "right click and copy" and then paste it in the java editor "behind" even if I was pasting it in the text editor. The problem was fixed by closing and reopening both editors.

I'll try to see if I can reproduce this problem. I am running on a dual screen windows 7 system. I've joined a screenshot of the organization of my two editors.

Is there any ETA on getting this fixed, or what is causing it? Because it seems to be happening every minute or two over the course of coding and its getting really annoying.

I have not seen this problem myself and do not know how to reproduce it so I cannot give an ETA on this bug.

If you have ways to reproduce the problem and some list of plug-ins that will trigger the problem, please let us know.

I honestly have no idea, double clicking the package explorer however seems to clear the issue temporarily (To a degree anyways) and then minimizing it back to its regular size seems to temp fix it.

Is there anyway I can turn on some sort of debug mode that will allow me to get a log of stuff going on to examine it for the issue?
Comment 7 Paul Webster CLA 2012-01-12 13:03:47 EST
There isn't a a lot of logging around this, although if you include the Context Debug view you can see what the context hierarchy is doing.

What build are you working on at the moment? Current 4.2 I builds are available from http://download.eclipse.org/eclipse/downloads/

I had been using 4.1; but for the time being I moved back to 3.7.1 and it seems to have cleared the issue up; but its still annoying that I had to switch to fix it.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. As such, we're closing this bug.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it and reopen this bug. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
