Description Lars Vogel CLA 2011-08-31 10:34:45 EDT
Would it be possible to remove the hard-dependency of org.eclipse.platform_4.1.0 to org.eclipse.ui.intro?

For RCP applications org.eclipse.ui.intro is not very often used.

It used to be an optional dependency but this was changed in 2006...for reasons that are unclear to me as the commit message tells us nothing.

This dependency is present in 3.x also. What do you need the org.eclipse.platform bundle for anyway?
Comment 3 Remy Suen CLA 2011-11-17 16:27:03 EST
Lars, are you using this bundle for build purposes?
Comment 4 Lars Vogel CLA 2011-11-18 11:02:52 EST
@Remy: Not sure if I understand your question correctly. My intent with this bug report was that "org.eclipse.ui.intro" was an optional dependency as it is not always required in RCP apps.

I wasn't aware that it is already a hard requirement in 3.x. As this is the case this bug can also be closed.

Yes, in the 3.x org.eclipse.platform bundle, it is a hard requirement.
