and chown with the same rights that are currently assigned to /cvsroot/eclipse/org.eclipse.releng

We intend to store our map files and doc bundles in this repo and thus all committers should have access. thanks!

Sorry I made a mistake

The repos shouldn't be in 

/gitroot/eclipse but rather /gitroot/platform

So you can delete all the repos here in /gitroot/eclipse/platform

kmoir@dev1:/gitroot/eclipse/platform> ls
eclipse.platform.common.git  eclipse.platform.git  eclipse.platform.releng.binaries.git

And create 
/gitroot/platform/eclipse.platform.common.git  
/gitroot/platform/eclipse.platform.releng.binaries.git

the eclipse.platform.releng.binaries.git repo already exists

I thought committers were at liberty of creating their own repos with the intrepo command?

I wasn't asking you to create repos but rather directories. But I seem to be able to do that under the platform directory now.  I wasn't allowed to chgrp them a while ago but perhaps this was at a higher level directory that had different permissions.  In any case, I was able to create the directories and fix the permissions.

I could not delete 
/gitroot/eclipse/platform which you can remove at your discretion :-)
