When I view a project which is remotely located, I want executables to be tagged as executables, so that context menus, such as "Debug As..." work as they do for local filesystems.

I talked with Chris Recoskie about this some time ago, and he said that they didn't implement this detection because of the performance hit that would be taken. Is this because the detection was done from the client side, instead of on the remote machine? If so, would it be possible to implement this detection as service of the remote daemon?

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a small remote project containing a hello world program.
2. Build it.
3. Notice that the resulting executable described as an executable.

Reassigning to RDT.

Assuming this will not be fixed.
