Hi,

I am trying to define source folder location (Linked Folder) using variable with ".." (parent directory). It does not work, it does not understand "..".


The following path is resolved: WORKSPACE_LOC/dummy_src3
The following path is not resolved: WORKSPACE_LOC/../dummy_src2

Is there any chance supporting this for 8.0.2? This is a very important functionality (using relative path with "..") that is not working.

Hi, 

I can confirm that this does not work if you use the text field in the 'New Folder' dialog.

A workaround is to put a dummy value as the resource location (say, "WORKSPACE_LOC"), then right click on the newly created folder in the Package Explorer, choose "Properties", in the 'Resource' section, push on the button 'Edit...' along the 'Location:' section, and enter "WORKSPACE_LOC/../dummy_src2".

The fix was provided almost a year and a half ago. It is really a shame that it is not part of Eclipse release? Any chance submitting it to the next eclipse release?

The overall idea is ok, but we should not use the linkTarget field as a temporary variable.

This broke external file system providers, see bug 434943.
